A plain-English explanation of what we collect, why we collect it, and what we don't do with your data.
Last updated · 17 May 2026
Heads up: a working draft. We’ll finalise the policy with counsel and a DPDP-aligned data-protection officer before full public launch.
What we collect
- Account info: name, email, mobile, employer/bank, city, designation, optional avatar.
- Lead data: customer name, contact info, city, segment, and notes you post. Stored encrypted at rest.
- Activity: leads posted/claimed/converted, messages with counterparties, credit transactions, feedback ratings.
- Technical: IP, user agent, and basic analytics necessary to run the service.
Why we collect it
- To operate the lead marketplace and verify members.
- To process credit transactions and Razorpay purchases.
- To send transactional emails (lead claimed, conversion, etc.).
- To investigate misuse and enforce platform rules.
What we never do
- We never sell customer data to advertisers or third parties.
- We never share customer PII with bankers who haven’t claimed the lead.
- We never use lead data to market to the customer ourselves.
Who can see what
The poster of a lead and the banker who claims it can see the customer’s name, phone, and email. No one else — including other LeadBarter members — has access. Public marketplace listings only show category, quality tier, deal value, city, and a short description.
Your rights under the DPDP Act, 2023
As a data principal, you can request access to your data, correct inaccuracies, withdraw consent, and request deletion. Reach our grievance officer at hello@leadbarter.in.
Data retention
Account and transaction records are retained for the duration of your account plus up to seven years thereafter, as required by financial record-keeping rules. Closed lead conversations are retained for one year and then anonymised.
